A:  The terms deodorant and antiperspirant are often used interchangeably, but there is actually an important difference between them. Deodorants primarily mask odour, typically with added fragrances, while antiperspirants reduce the amount of sweat that reaches the surface of the skin – effectively limiting both wetness and odour.

A: Perspirex is effective thanks to its active ingredient, Aluminum Chloride. Aluminum Chloride reacts with water and proteins in the sweat duct to temporarily form a gel plug, which reduces the amount of sweat that can reach the surface of the skin.

This gel plug is naturally removed as dead skin cells are shed from the surface of the skin. Over the course of a few days, the sweat gland becomes active again. This time frame varies from person to person and can range from a couple of days up to a week, which is why Perspirex roll-ons need to be reapplied every 5th day.

A: Five simple steps for applying roll-on to the underarms:

1. Apply Perspirex at night, just before going to bed, using two strokes up and two strokes down in the centre of the armpit (where hair growth is).
2. Apply only to completely dry, unbroken skin. If necessary, use a hairdryer on a cool setting to ensure the skin is dry.
3. Before lowering the arms, make sure the skin is completely dry.
4. In the morning, wash with soap and water. Bathing or showering will not reduce the effectiveness of Perspirex. There is no need to reapply – use Perspirex roll-ons every 5th night.
5. A regular deodorant or perfume can be used on top of Perspirex without affecting its effectiveness.

A: At night, sweat glands are less active. As a result, the water level in the sweat glands is lower, allowing the gel plug to form more effectively in the sweat duct. This ensures long-lasting protection against sweat and odour.

A: Using too much Perspirex may cause skin irritation.
